We are an Eye and Facial Surgery care team efficiently capitalizing on modern technology to optimize treatment outcomes while maximizing patient education and satisfaction.
Mills Eye + Facial Surgery is a comprehensive eye and facial surgery practice with concentrations in OculoFacial Plastic, Reconstructive, and Cosmetic Surgery, and Comprehensive Ophthalmology. We offer state of the art technology, convenient locations, and the most highly trained and credentialed staff possible. Our constantly evolving practice delivers high-tech modern advances in eye and facial surgery to the Gulf Coast in ways typically available only to patients in larger cities or university settings. Our offices, multiply-recognized as, “Best of the Bay Finalists” with locations in Crestview, Gulf Breeze, and Pensacola, are equipped with the latest technology available, both in terms of diagnostic equipment and computerized integration and have been referred to as models, with other surgeons and practices visiting to learn from us.
While we provide a wide range of ophthalmic and oculofacial plastic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgeries, cataract surgery is clearly the most common surgical procedure performed by our practice with over 1,000 surgeries being performed annually. You can rest assured that with well-over 10,000 surgeries performed, your surgeon has the kind of experience you can trust for the best possible outcome. However, it takes more than just doing thousands of surgeries to provide the highest quality care. It takes time and personal attention. We feel it's been our focus on the details and factors beyond simply doing the surgery that have allowed us to achieve truly outstanding results. We look at each and every patient individually and customize the treatment plan specifically for each unique eye.
We utilize ancillary products and services to optimize the pre-operative analysis, surgical procedure, and post-operative recovery. For example, dry eye syndrome can have a major effect on the pre-operative analysis prior to cataract surgery, as well as on the clarity of vision afterwards. Optimizing the ocular surface prior to surgery yields more accurate pre-operative measurements, better visualization for the surgeon during surgery, better tolerance of the post-operative drops during recovery, and better overall visual clarity following the procedure. Therefore, we recently established our revolutionary “Dry Eye Clinic” with the addition of the “LipiFlow” system for the treatment dry eyes and ocular surface disorders, which is especially important prior to cataract surgery. It has also proven very successful, however, even for non-surgical patients because it can provide long-lasting dry eye treatment for a fraction of the cost of eye drops over time. This is the hottest technology in the field today and we are among the first to offer it in our region.
In addition to this new and exciting non-surgical technology, however, we also capitalize on the latest surgical advancements, such as "Premium" IntraOcular Lens implants including "Symfony" and "Crystalens" to provide the best range of vision after surgery. “Premium” implants may reduce, and frequently eliminate, the need for glasses following cataract surgery, and we have had truly amazing results with the Symfony implant. It is our leading premium implant and there is even a version to address astigmatism! We are proud to be recognized as leaders in non-surgical technologies such as LipiFlow as well as new surgical technologies such as "Premium" IntraOcular Lens (IOL) implants. Our patients ultimately benefit from our complimentary utilization of surgical and non-surgical treatments to produce the optimal results, and while we believe our results speak for themselves, you may interested to learn that we have been publicly recognized for our superb results by other industry-leading companies as well. For example, we have be designated a Bausch & Lomb Crystalens Center of Excellence.
